The Obamacare law has a number of exemptions. You may have heard about them already. What you may not have heard is there are legitimate exemptions for people who join a "health care sharing ministry." I've found five ministries you can join. The first three are for practicing Christians. The final two are for anybody.
1. Christian Healthcare Ministries I picked this one because I liked their pricing structure the best. They have a referral program, so if you join them I'd appreciate it if you gave them my name.
2. Christian Care Ministry (also known as Medi-Share)
3. Samaritan Ministries
4. Liberty HeathShare
5. Altrua Healthshare
Regarding the first three:
A benefit for Christians is that you can be absolutely certain none of your money will ever be used for abortions or abortion inducing drugs. You will also be able to pray with other members as well as receive prayer for your health needs. Read some of the testimonials at the sites. There are some neat stories there.
It is vitally important to understand that these ministries are NOT insurance. They act like insurance, but technically they are not insurance. Each of the sites has information about how they work. They all work pretty much the same way. If this blog gets some traction I may write about this distinction in a future post.
